Variation on Icosahedron in Art

When I painted the Archetype, “Rigid Path to Wisdom” I started with the Cape Buffalo (which is similar to a Water Buffalo) and a shape I found the most expressive for the personality I was seeking to evoke. I picked this polyhedron because of its complexity and based off of its root shape, the icosahedron, which represents water, where these guys like to hang out.

Since then I’ve been experimenting with 3D modeling to enhance my Sacred Geometry surrealism. A fellow creative, @dremaceo , asked me yesterday if I can recreate this shape in 3D for some upcoming film projects we are collaborating on and I couldn’t help myself but to give it a shot today. It’s not exact, but it certainly will be used for something.

Funny, that I started out with a 2D reference drawn by Wenzel Jamnitzer in 1568, created a 2D painting based off of that, now recreating it in 3D today, and will be output again into more 2D paintings and eventually back into 3D animation in the future.

One has to wonder…

if the universe functions in a similar style: Cycles of iterative processes, bouncing between different dimensions, evolving the output as time goes on…

Have a good weekend! And see me at BAM next Saturday, First Saturday Arts Market for more info.
