Lawndale Art Center is pleased to announce the artists and Preview Party for the 2021 iteration of The Big Show, our ambitious annual exhibition of new work by artists practicing within a 100-mile radius of Lawndale. For the 2021 exhibition, juror Cecilia Fajardo-Hill selected 212 works by 182 artists from over 500 submissions.

About the Juror

Cecilia Fajardo-Hill is a British/Venezuelan art historian and curator in modern and contemporary art, currently based in Southern California. Fajardo-Hill has a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Essex, England, and an MA in 20th Century Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, England.
Fajardo-Hill was co-curator of Radical Women: Latin American Art 1960-1985, Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, 2017, and is the co-curator of the upcoming XicanXperimental, organized by the American Federation of Arts, 2022. She is Visiting Scholar at the Chicano Studies Research Center de UCLA, Los Angeles. In 2020 she received the Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant and will be a Clark Fellow in residence at the Clark Art Institute, Williamstown in fall of 2021.
