Iteration 1: Mr. Octahedron (intro to Sacred Geometry)

“At the earliest drawings of the fractal  curve,  few clues to the underlying mathematical structure will be

seen. ” -Ian Malcolm

By way of acrylic and oil paint on canvas and panel, my series of “Iterations” display life at its core geometric elements and the underlying structure of the universe. It is to say that all things are connected via geometry, and the forms we find in the structure of all compounds and molecules are that of the Platonic Solids, the most basic, three-dimensional, regular geometric forms. It may not have occurred as it was originally stated by Plato, that all the elements are delegated to their respective solids, but rather, as microscopic technology increased the ability to pear into the structure of matter, we found that all atoms come together in the most efficient packing systems. These systems turn out to be the perfect symmetry of the Platonic Solids and a couple other forms that fit into the beautiful class of Sacred Geometry.

Sacred Geometry is defined many ways but here’s a good one from Miranda Lundy in her book “Sacred Geometry” (2001)

“Sacred Geometry charts the unfolding of number in space. It differs from mundane geometry purely in the sense that the moves and concepts involved are regarded as having symbolic value, and thus, like good music, facilitate the evolution of the soul.”

I like this definition because it touches on some of the most important aspects, especially that of harmony in music. You have all kinds of geometry as well as sounds, but sacred geometry is not just sound, it’s music. It’s order out of chaos. It’s what makes the universe work and everything in it. Without harmonious vibrations, your cells would die and so would the entire galaxy. All celestial bodies produce harmonic vibrations, see Music of The Spheres and all matter does the same. Without sacred geometry guiding physical phenomena, nothing works and life would not form. All that is left is entropy.

That is just the tip of the ice-burg on Sacred G. (as we call it for short). More on this at a later point, if you would like. It is also not the only subject that my Iterations series encompasses:

Other themes include the transformative act of thinking; that is to say, how  thoughts  physically  change  reality, matter and space. The shapes represent the elements of creation and much of the unknown, perhaps swept under the rug of a higher spatial dimension. It is through elucidation of the singularity and examination of the fine-lined details that each piece’s individual story is revealed. I use the shapes as anomalous story-telling devises. The viewer is brought to a place of higher consciousness where hypercubes, polyhedral duals and cryptic symbols open the eye’s window to a world influenced by intention and visualization.

The work may be highly conceptual  but it serves it’s foremost purpose: It is aesthetically pleasing. There is plenty of space ignited in a fiery colour palette ranging from muted tones to high contrast values of ultra luminescence against the deepest black hole vacuum pigment. Because of the interconnectivity of all things via geometry, the style, itself, is quite free to explore formless abstract clouds of chaos, or scribbles of higher-dimensional wave equations, affirmations, and any subject I desire, juxtaposed by precision surrealism characterizing the expanding sagas in my head. Describing the human condition in caporal reality.

Creating worlds.

Graphing the multiverse.
