studies

When drawing animals for the Platonic Solids series of .506 I have become progressively more of a perfectionist from one to the next, making sure they are as flawless as can be. No 1st image off of google. Sure maybe on a quick budget design, but when doing something with no budget, spare no expense.

Cumulate many references, sketch, study, sketch and study until you can do it without any photos at all. Ah, now we have something unique and stylized… You have to be able to see it and draw it from your head. I think I’m about at that point with the lion for the tetrahedron, but critiques are encouraged. Tear it up. It’s the only way we learn… (The final feline at this point is at the bottom of sketch2.)

About The Fink

Vincent Fink’s work is surrealism in it’s purest form. His dark images with warped perspectives invite the viewer into a world that came from a lucid dream in which he observed the completed work. Pushing himself to recreate something that was beyond his imagination and skill in his waking life, Vincent has used this inspiration to develop the Metamorphosis Project, a concept that continues to spawn the hidden messages of his dreams.
